Pataveh bridge

The historic Pataveh Bridge or Takht-e-Shahneshin Bridge is one of the tourist attractions of Kohgiluyeh Boyer-Ahmad Province, which, despite being located in the city of Dena with its center in Sisakht, has mistakenly become known as the Pataveh-Yasuj Bridge among the Iranian people.

This bridge is built in the northwestern part of Pataveh and on the Beshar River. The historic Patave Bridge is actually located on the road connecting Pataveh to Margon. Due to its special climatic and geographical features, this area has been considered as one of the main roads of Isfahan, Ctesiphon, Shush Estakhr and Behbahan in order to pass caravans. Based on the natural features of the area, the need to build bridges over the river was felt to facilitate the movement of the caravan, so bridges were built along the route in this area. Many of these bridges were repaired in later periods.
One of the oldest remained bridges in the collection of ancient bridges of Pataveh is Takht-e-Shahneshin Bridge. According to some experts, this bridge dates back to the Sassanid era and its fame is mostly due to the use of decorative stones and the presence of masonry marks on the stones.

Restoration of the historical Pataveh Bridge

Regarding the restoration of the historical Pataveh bridge, it should be noted that many researchers, considering the materials used in the building and the type of arches, believe that the historical Pataveh bridge was rebuilt during the Safavid period and its foundation belongs to the Sassanid period. In general, the historical bridges of this region were registered in the list of national monuments of Iran in 1973 and in 1991, they were partially repaired and restored. Over time, due to damage caused by floods, earthquakes and rain on the historic bridge of Pataveh, the Cultural Heritage Organization of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province in May 2020 urgently rebuilt and restored this ancient structure. For visiting this building and other attractions of this region, you can participate in Persiantrips tourist tours and record lasting memories for yourself.
