Katale Khor Cave

What does Katale Khor Mean?
There are two different versions about the meaning of Katale Khor:
1- Some western people of Iran call low mountains Katale; Khor is also short for Khorshid (sun). So Katale Khor means a low mountain, behind which the sun rises.
2- Others consider Katale to mean a small cave and Khor to mean reaching, so the cave is called Katale Khor because the main cave path reaches the small caves at the end.
Where is Katale Khor Cave?
This cave is located between the cities of Qeydar and Khodabande near the small town of Garmab. It is interesting to know that some scientists consider Ali-Sadr Cave in Hamedan to be connected with Katale Khor Cave due to its proximity to Hamedan province ; the similarity between the structure of the two caves can be a reason to prove it. This cave with green space outside and many amenities welcomes tourists from all over the world.
The Amazing Interior of Katale Khor Cave
A trip to Katale khor Cave will be a very different and special experience for professional cavers because there are many difficult corridors and paths inside the cave that people without cave climbing skills should not use; however, ordinary people can travel inside the cave with their families by passing the safe one-hour route (1.2 km) which has coffee shops, restaurants and stores. It is interesting to know that about 60 to 70 caveman skeletons were discovered inside the cave (what a luxurious house they had!). The cave has three floors and only 32 kilometers have been explored and 27 kilometers have been mapped. Of course, it is estimated that the cave has 5 other floors. Abundant and nested tunnels, colorful stalagmite and stalactite limestone columns, different beautiful shapes, modern lighting, pleasant and cool air, water pools, and etc, are considered as unique attractions of Katale khor Cave of Zanjan.
