Vakil Bathhouse

If you want to see where the people of Iran used to bathe in 1760 AD, you should visit Vakil Bathhouse located in Shiraz.This Bathhouse is also from the collection of buildings built by Karim Khan Zand.

The combination of extremely beautiful architecture and intelligent engineering in different parts of the Bathhouse with different functions creates one of the most unique experiences for every traveler.The decorations, tiling, arching, painting and other architectural features of  Vakil Bathhouse were done with such precision and beauty that if there was no water tank inside it, it would not be different from a small luxurious palace.

Tips about the construction engineering of  Vakil Bathhouse:

If we ignore the architectural beauties of the Bathhouse (such as plastered columns, motifs from Islamic stories and Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, authentic Iranian arches, stone basins with water fountains, etc.), there are very interesting points regarding its construction engineering.The use of 4 small basins on 4 platforms around the treasury, where the clients used to wash their feet in these 4 small basins before entering the main bath after climbing a number of stairs.The section between the cold room and the hot room is built in a way that prevents the exchange of hot and cold air.

In the floor of the bathhouse, several rows of weathered bricks were installed and mortar was poured between the rows to withstand the water pressure.Under the floor, there are many channels in which hot water has flowed to keep the whole place warm.To prevent water from entering the hearth, the cauldron was made in a round metal shape with a wide rim and it was covered with special materials made of clay and lime.
