One of the main policies for the growth and prosperity of tourism after the Islamic Revolution is the conversion of old aristocratic homes into provincial anthropological museums.
This project has been implemented in almost all provinces of Iran and the history of culture and art of each province is displayed in anthropological museums. When was the Kurd House built and why is it called Asef mansion?
The original foundation of this house dates back to the Safavid period. A person named “Asef-e-Azam”, who was one of the nobles of the Safavid government in Kurdistan Province, built the main building, and that is why it is named Asef Mansion today. After that, the heirs of this family added side rooms to the building during the Qajar era. During the Pahlavi era, the structure was expanding. After the Islamic revolution, many renovations and repairs were done until finally it was reopened as the anthropology museum.
The unique features of Asef Mansion:
This building has an area of nearly 4 thousand square meters and has all the features of an aristocratic house. All the servants of the house lived in the side rooms. The main building is on the north side facing the entrance door, in front of which there is a large pond and a green garden. Of course, the house has 4 different courtyards that lead to different parts.The architecture of the house is the traditional Qajar architecture with unique decorations on the facade. These decorations include plastering, muqarnas, carved stones, etc. All the house have traditional Iranian windows decorated with beautiful designs, which are in the form of Sash window, whose symmetry will enchant your eyes.By visiting the inside of the mansion, you can get to know the history of culture, art and daily life of the Kurdish people of western Iran and get to know these unique and kind people more.
