Tomb of Saadi or Saadiyeh

Saadi Tomb, known as Saadiyeh, is the residence and burial place of Saadi, a prominent Persian poet.

Saadiyeh is located at the end of Bustan Street and next to Delgosha Garden at the hillside of the mountain in the northeast of Shiraz. Around the mausoleum, there are many graves of religious leaders who are buried there according to their will.
The first building was built on Saadi's tomb, about 50 years after his death. This building is being renovated many times. According to the writings, this building belongs to the Zandiyeh dinasty, which was made of brick and plaster. After many years, by the order of the ruler of Persia for various reasons, such as religious differences and ... the monastery of Saadi, which was located in the garden of Saadi, was completely destroyed.
Saadiyeh was originally Saadi Monastery and he spent the rest of his life there. For the first time in the seventh century, Shamsuddin Mohammad Sahib Divani, the famous minister of Abaqa Khan, built a tomb over Saadi's tomb.
In 998, by order of Yaqub Zolghadr, the ruler of Persia, Sheikh Monastery was destroyed and no trace of it remained. In the 7 corners of Saadiyeh building in Shiraz, you can see handwritten inscriptions on which verses of Sheikh Ajal, Saadi are written, poems taken from the books of Bustan and Golestan.
In 1187 AH, by the order of Karim Khan Zand, a royal mansion made of plaster and brick with two floors was built above the tomb of Sheikh.
In one of the upstairs rooms, on the east side of the corridor leading to the second floor staircase, was Saadi's tomb, surrounded by a wooden mausoleum. Later, Shurideh Shirazi (Fassih al-Mulk), the blind Shirazi poet, was buried in another room on the west side of the corridor. This building was registered on December 9, 1975, with registration number 1010.
