Kashan Fin garden

Kashan Fin garden

Kashan Fin garden is one of the most important Persian gardens, which is completely logical with the principles of construction in Iran. This garden, which is located inside the city of Kashan, was registered in a UNESCO heritage list in 2011 as one of the 9 leading Iranian gardens.

There are different opinions about the foundation date of the garden. Some trace the garden back to pre-Islamic, the Sassanid period, and another group of scholars consider the rule of "Al-Buwayh" or "Ilkhani" to be the founder of its construction, but what is certain is the date of construction of the Fin Garden in its present form, which is attributed to the reign of Shah Abbasking, Safavid era. The Fin Garden has been the scene of important events in the political and social history of Iran. The celebration of the Safavid kings and the assassination of the ruler of Kashan, are some of the historical events of this garden. It is also said that Sheikh Safi died in the mansion of Fin garden and his son was immediately crowned in the same place.

The bath of this garden is where Amir Kabir, Prime Minister of King Nasser al-Din, was assassinated. There are two baths in the Fin Garden, one of which was called the Royal Bath, used by the courtiers, and a smaller bath used by the crew and ordinary people. Finn Garden has a square and enclosed space with high walls. The main and north-south passage of the garden, which starts from the "entrance mansion", passes through the pavilion and reaches the end of the garden. Also, according to the principles of Iranian gardening, the garden has an east-west passage that today connects the bath to the Kashan Museum. The Safavid pavilion or the central mansion of the garden is a quadrangular building and its space is designed in such a way that a view of the garden can be seen from all sides. Also in Karim Khan Zand era, another part was built in southwestern part of the garden. One of the engineering wonders of Kashan Fin Garden is the management of water circulation in it. Only by creating surface differences and without using any other force, water flows in the streams and fountains of the garden.
