One of the symbols of the historical city of Yazd and in fact the epic symbol is Amir Chakhmaq Square, which the people in Yazd call it Mir Chakhmaq. From the very beginning, this square was one of the main squares of the city, where people gathered for various ceremonies. Amir Chakhmaq Square and its surrounding buildings are among the most prominent historical and tourist complexes in Yazd. Mirchakhmaq is a collection of works of the ninth century AH that Amir Jalal al-din Chakhmaq, one of the commanders and rulers of Shahrokh Teymouri (911-771 AH, 1506-1370 AD) build it when he came to power in Yazd with the help of his wife Seti Fatemeh Khatoon to develop the city.

History and world registration of Amir Chakhmaq square

Amir Chakhmaq Square belongs to the Timurid period and the ninth century AH. Amir Jalaluddin Chaghmaq (Chakhmaq) was one of the commanders and commanders of Shahrokh Teymouri in the eighth century AD, who created a large collection during his rule over Yazd. Of the many buildings in the complex, only a few remain today. Tekyeh Amir Chakhmaq and Amir Chakhmaq Mosque were registered in the list of national monuments of Iran in 1951 and 1962. Other extensions have been nationally registered as Amirchakhmaq collection with the number 2416. This square was also known by the same name in the Safavid era. During the reign of Shah Abbas, some of these monuments were repaired, including the four-story building built on the caravansary. In the early thirteenth century AH, the square in front of the mosque and the entrance to the bazaar became a Hosseiniyah. Of course, what is certain is that at that time this place did not play the role of a Hosseiniyah, because the construction of such spaces became common in Iran from the Safavid period onwards. This building was not built by order of Mirchkhmaq, but it is known as Mirchkhmaq. Mirchkhmaq main building is very famous due to its high entrance and interesting front, huge dome and beautiful plateau and today it is considered as one of the components of Yazd city. This building is made of raw clay and has beautiful decorations and plastering.
