Kazim Dashi
On the northwest bank of Lake Urmia, a large stone piece stands out. This big stone, which is 60 meters high, has an eventful history in its heart; from the treasury of jewels to the military fortress. Let's get to know this 60 meter big stone more.
What is its Name and Origin?
The big rock of the lake has different names:
: 1- Qirkhlar (40 people): It refers to a story about the escape of 40 people who took refuge in this rock from the nearby village due to the oppression of the ruler of the region and.
2- Kazim Dashi (Kazim Stone): It is attributed to Kazem Khan, the commander of the fighters against the Russian invaders, who sheltered people in this big rock in the early 20th century and also in the First World War.
3- Qala dashi (castle stone): This name is given due to the construction of a castle inside it.
Regardless of its name, it has existed in the lake for a long time because of the stone material. There is no accurate information about when it became a solid human place although the first-hand books of Muslim historians of the 13th and 14th centuries AD show that this stone fort was the place where the treasury of Hulagu Khan was kept.
Geographical Location
The best way to go to the castle is to pass through Salmas and reach the city of Ghoshchi. Then, after moving towards the village of Gurchin, you will have about 1.7 km to reach the castle. Inside the castle, Kazim Khan built facilities for long-term resistance, traces of which can be seen today.
