Mushtaqiyeh Dome (three domes)

In the heart of Iran's desert and among the old houses of Kerman city (in Kerman province), there is a place that gives tourists a different feeling.

A cozy place where you can spend an hour in the midst of its thick trees, protected from the heat of the desert, and look at the history of this unique structure; Because it is a box of interesting stories. The name of this dream place is Mushtaqiyeh Dome or Mushtaqiyeh Tomb, which some call *three domes*.

Let's go to search in the heart of the warm and desert city of Kerman.

What is the story of this place?

At the end of the Zand period, a person named Mushtaq Ali Shah, who was both a Sufi and a singer, lived in Kerman. Due to his strong interest in Iranian music, he added the fourth string to the three strings (Setar) and recites the Qur'an with voice and musical instruments. Because of this, some people opposed him and finally killed him and one of his students. After death, their bodies were buried next to the grave of one of the old elders of the city. After that and during the Qajar period, a dome was built on this building; But after the death of two other famous Sufis of the city, Sheikh Ismail Harati and Kawthar Hamedani, they were also buried next to Mushtaq Ali Shah and a dome was built on top of each of them to become known as the Three Domes. After that, by building a mosque in the tomb, they turned this place into one of the tourist hubs of Kerman city.

Some architectural features of Mushtaqiyeh dome:

The architecture of the building has traditional elements of Iranian-Islamic architecture with decorations from the Qajar period. Two of the three domes are decorated with blue tiles, and one can still be seen in brick form. The whole building has muqarnas, plastering, tiling and painting. But the most attractive part of it is the pond and the green space of the tomb, which always (even during the summer) cools the air of the complex, and this means that the heat of Kerman becomes meaningless in the Mushtaqiyeh dome.

In the heart of Kerman and the desert, three Sufis are resting in a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere. Visit the Mushtaqiyeh dome to get to know their story closely!!!
