Akbarieh Garden and Mansion with amazing architecture and an area of 45069 square meters is located in a mountain village of the same name in Birjand and Khorasan Province.

This garden includes two ancient mansions, the older one dates back to the Qajar period and belonged to Heshmat al-Dawlah, the father of Ibrahim Shaukat al-Mulk. A beautiful, historic, two-story mansion with two halls and a long corridor on the first floor which has access to the main parts of the garden.

The area of the Akbariyeh garden and mansion is about 4500 square meters. This garden was built in a mountainous space for governmental affairs, habitance and welcoming in two buildings. The special architecture of Akbariyeh mansion is one of the special architectures on the earth that you cannot find this type of architecture anywhere in the world. The use of Turkish architecture and to some extent Russian architecture and the combination of these two with Islamic architecture make this historic mansion very special.

We can mention the pavilion dome, the hall of mirrors and Mogharnas decorations of honeycomb structure and other beautiful buildings that have made this garden unique and pleasant. Shaukat al-Muluk ordered to build another building for official activities and ceremonies. In the past, it was generally used to host and receive elders and to do governmental affairs.This mansion has a very beautiful and dazzling design and is decorated with fretwork, candles and colored glass and very delicate and artistic plastering with Islamic and geometric designs. Akbariyeh Garden has so many attractive features that it is not at all surprising to see its name in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.In most parts of this garden, pomegranate, mulberry and palm trees have given a special and unique freshness to this amazing attraction. Today, different parts of this complex are used for different applications such as a library, archeological museum, anthropological museum and a traditional tea house. The existence of tall pine trees on both sides of the street leading to the central mansion has added to the beauty and freshness of the Akbari Garden and its facade. Another garden is located on the southern corner and is smaller than the northern garden. This garden is surrounded by welfare service spaces, the central building and the west wall of the stables. One of the important elements is the large pool with a square design, which occupies a large part of the garden space.Birjand Akbariyeh Garden was registered as one of the 9 historical gardens of Iran in UNESCO World Heritage Sites list at the 35th session of UNESCO in 2011. Nowadays, Akbariyeh Garden has a different usage compared to the time of its construction and tourists can use the facilities provided in this garden.The garden now has Birjand Archaeological Museum, Birjand Anthropology Museum, Khorasan Doll and Culture Museum, the Wildlife Museum and the Museum of Celebrities, which host tourists every day.
